Mark Reynolds booked his place in the Fota Island Pro-Am today with a superb score of 43 points. The 4 handicapper battled through torrential downpours and a brisk wind to card a fantastic 3 under par gross score. Mark will be joined at the 2 Day, 36 hole Pro-Am by Peter Daly and Barry Robinson who secured their spots by returning excellent scores of 42 and 41 points respectively, however Barry had to put in a strong back nine performance to fight off the attentions of a determined Tony Hartin. PGA Professional Anthony Hanlon will complete the line-up that will represent Stackstown at the Cork venue on 29th and 30th of this month.
Interest in this Gents Qualifying competition was high with more than 80 entrants across 3 classes vying for the 3 amateur places up for grabs. There was a distinct 'buzz' around the clubhouse during the day with the final place only being decided very late on when Mark secured the Class 1 spot, just pipping Ger Fitzpatrick, who had posted a tremendous effort of 41 points earlier in the day.
Special Thanks goes to our Captain Felix McKenna and our Competitions Secretary Gavin Fleet for facilitating the Pro-Am Qualifier, to Ed Mulligan and his Staff for presenting the course in such magnificent condition, to all well-wishers and, of course, to all those who took part. Watch out for an update at the end of the month to see how our team got on at Fota.
