The Bloom Cup team.
Last Friday, our Bloom team travelled to Newlands for our 2nd round match away. We had 3 great games.
1st out was LC Denise and Simone McCann and their match went to 18th where they were pipped by I.
2nd was Evelyn Smith and Frances McEvoy who won on 16th.
3rd. Mary Brennan and Dee ORegan again fought valiantly but were also pipped by 1 on 18th.
All is not lost as we have them at home on Friday week and hopefully our luck will turn.
Thanks to sub Patricia Wilson
Managers Mary Grogan and Aideen OBrien and and the wonderful supporters who braved the M50 traffic to follow their team. It was great to see all the red along the fairways .
The Mixed Foursomes.
Last Sunday in the most dreadful weather, our mixed team met a superb Blainroe Team.
Our team fought valiantly in dreadful conditions.
At home we had
Ray OConnor and Marian White who were doing very well and just lost out on 18th by 1.
Robbie Hughes and Fiona Neill, after being 4 down fought back to take the lead but were called in.
Peter Horn and Keelin Fagan again took the match to the 17th hole.
Away , we had Liam Tyrell and Mary Grogan who were beaten by an excellent pair and Alan Doyle and Dee Ryan who were just beaten on 18th also in dreadful conditions.
Thanks to Managers VC John Lavelle and LVC Marian White and subs on the day and all the supporters who braved the elements.
Well done to you all for representing Stackstown with honour and dignity.
Ladies Team Co-Manager
I am afraid it was not our weekend. Our Jnr Foursomes team came up against a very strong Hermitage Team and having lost the two matches away our home team were called in. A big thank you to all the players and supporters and to Managers Joan Moore & Susan Murray.
On to Sunday when our Carton Cup Team took on the Grange. It was a very tight affair and literally went to the wire. We won two matches and lost two matches with the last match going up the 9th all square. The difference being their putt dropped and ours stayed on the lip to lose out 3-2. It was a great experience for all the team and arguers well for the future.
Thank you to Managers Mary Grogan & Aideen O’Brien and to those who caddied, it was much appreciated.
Next Sunday the 29th we have two more matches. Our Senior foursomes take on Dunlaoire at 3pm. We have two matches at home Anne O’Connor & Caoimhe McKeon and Marian White and Joan Shields. The pair playing away are Fiona Neill & Eimear Mairtin with subs Rachel Leahy & Ciara Doyle. Good luck to the team and Managers Trudy Doyle & Sinead Murphy.
At 3.30pm the Challenge Cup team take on Grange with 3 matches at home and 2 away. At home we have Marie O’Mahony, Carmel Foley and Brid Flynn. And in the Grange Evelyn Brennan and Marian Masterson. Some of these players have never played matchplay before, but have been putting in a lot of practice together. We wish them and managers Dee Ryan & Irene Parsons the best of luck. As always, your support would be much appreciated on the day.
