To mark the 50th anniversary of Stackstown Golf Club, the Management Committee established a dedicated 50th Anniversary Committee to ensure this milestone is celebrated in a fitting and memorable way.

The Anniversary Committee began meeting in August 2024 and, by the end of that year, had established four working groups under the headings Social, Memory Lane, Golf and Finance. In addition to committee members, each working group has a number of additional volunteers.

CELEBRATING OUR JOURNEY SO FAR:

As we continue our special year celebrating 50 years of Stackstown Golf Club, we look back on some of the wonderful events and milestones that have already made 2026 such a memorable year.

• January – Anniversary Fireworks

We began our anniversary year on January 1st in spectacular fashion with a magnificent fireworks display at the Club, bringing members and families together to mark the beginning of this very special year.

• March – Captains’ Drive-In

March brought the traditional Captains’ Drive-In, accompanied by the Artane Band. It was a fitting start to a year dedicated to celebrating the rich history and community spirit of Stackstown Golf Club.

• April – 50 Years of Affiliation

On April 1st, exactly 50 years since Stackstown Golf Club was officially affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland, members received a commemorative 50th Anniversary bag tag.

A special anniversary display was also installed in the restaurant, showcasing memorable moments from across the Club’s first 50 years.

• June – 50th Anniversary Pro-Am

One of the standout highlights of the year was our Pro-Am over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Members and guests enjoyed a wonderful occasion, made even more memorable by the participation of local golfing legend, Honorary Life Member and three-time Major winner Pádraig Harrington, who shot a superb six-under-par 66 to claim victory.

• June – 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner

The celebrations continued with our 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner. Blessed with glorious weather on a beautiful midsummer evening, members gathered for a wonderful night of music, laughter, friendship and memories.

STILL TO COME:

Commemorative Stone Unveiling – Late August

Our next anniversary event will be the official unveiling of the commemorative 50th Anniversary stone at the first tee. This permanent marker will stand as a tribute to the generations of members who have shaped Stackstown Golf Club over the past five decades.

50th Anniversary Book Launch – Late November / Early December

Our year-long celebrations will conclude with the launch of the Stackstown Golf Club 50th Anniversary publication.

The book will capture the major milestones and memories from the Club’s first fifty years as well as the special events that have taken place throughout our anniversary year. It will include photographs from the celebrations and a complete listing of Stackstown Golf Club members in 2026, creating a unique historical record for future generations.
