HONOURING OUR PAST, CELEBRATING OUR PEOPLE, AND MARKING A MILESTONE YEAR FOR STACKSTOWN GOLF CLUB

Celebrating 50 Years

To mark the 50th anniversary of Stackstown Golf Club, the Management Committee established a dedicated 50th Anniversary Committee to ensure this milestone is celebrated in a fitting and memorable way.

The Anniversary Committee began meeting in August 2024 and, by the end of that year, had established four working groups under the headings Social, Memory Lane, Golf and Finance. In addition to committee members, each working group has a number of additional volunteers.

SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS SO FAR INCLUDE:

  • The Anniversary Committee developed and approved a New club logo for use throughout the year. You will see this all around the club, on the signage as you enter the club and the wall mural and also throughout the website.

  • The Celebratory Gala Dinner, which is planned to be held in the clubhouse on 20th June 2026, will be a key focal point of our celebrations. Members felt strongly that they wanted to host the event in the clubhouse and the Anniversary Committee are delighted to able to accommodate the 330 guests who are due to attend. It promises to be a great night.

  • Our Memory Lane working group is doing trojan work, trawling through boxes of documents that were very kindly offered to us by our members. There are lots of exciting items discovered and we are currently planning the best way to share these with our members.

  • This team is also co-ordinating input into our Historic publication which is being penned by award winning journalist Mark Tighe. The publication will document our 50 year history and is due to be launched at the end of our anniversary year to round up all of our celebrations. We are sure you will agree that this will be a real highlight.

  • The Golf working group is working very closely with the main golf committee to ensure the 50th anniversary is recognised during all of our main golf events, including the Pro Am which scheduled for Sunday 31st  May 2026. Followed by a Festival Week of golf.

  • To begin our celebrations, we held a fantastic Fireworks display on 1st January 2026, the clubhouse was overflowing with members and their families and there was a fantastic celebratory atmosphere. We look forward to many more events like this throughout the year.

More documents and stories will be added throughout the year.
