Stackstown Golf Club General News

*Welcome to Stackstown Golf Club*

Our 2017 Captains Frank McGrath and Mary Grogan,  welcome you to Stackstown Golf Club

The Club was established in 1976. Initially founded as a Golf Club for Ireland's national police force, An Garda Síochána, it has grown into one of the most respected and attractive venues to play golf in Dublin, Ireland. Whilst Padraig Harrington is our most famous son, the ladies and gentlemen of Stackstown have won honours in most national competitions including major provincial competitions.
Visitors are always welcome at Stackstown and will enjoy the panoramic views of Dublin Bay on the recently redeveloped eighteen hole golf course.
Padraig's Harrington's international experience in the design of this redevelopment has resulted in a challenging Course for members and visitors alike.
A fully equipped Pro-Shop and a plentiful supply of buggies provide the novice and experienced golfer with all that is needed. The social and hospitable atmosphere in the bar and restaurant will complete a wonderful visit to our club. See it for yourself.....

***Lightning strikes twice!***

Three days after scoring a Hole in One on the 6th hole, Paddy King went out again and scored another Ace last Saturday, this time on the 12th hole.

Paddy has now scored three aces in the last 18 months, he achieved his first career hole in one in the winter league in February ’16.

What are the odds that Paddy will score another ace next weekend?

*Club House Update*

 25th May 2017

The past few weeks has seen a high level of activity on site from our professional consultants.

Once this scope of works and associated funding is agreed, final design work can be completed and after that the project will be put out to tender. There are quite a number of steps that need to be completed before building work will commence and it is estimated that this building and fit out programme will take 14 weeks.

Our architect has given us a preliminary timetable which indicates that the clubhouse may not fully reopen until November. However there are a number of variables that might shorten or lengthen that timetable.

The Management Committee and all the professionals that we have retained are focused on completing this project as soon as possible. However we are all conscious that it is even more important that the project is carried out in a manner that is most advantageous to the club. While it is frustrating at present not to have access to the full clubhouse, we can all look forward to enjoying a newly refurbished clubhouse once the project is completed.

Harrington Wins Again!

Congratulations to our honorary member, Padraig Harrington on winning the 2016 Portugal Masters, at the Victoria Course in Vilamoura on Sunday.

Padraig scored a flawless 65 in his final round to win by one shot. His wonderful short game, honed during his amateur days in Stackstown, was well evident over the four days, during which he took only 100 puts.

This is Padraig’s fifteenth win on the European Tour and it moves him up 62 places to 97th on the World Golf Rankings. It also moves him up to 43rd in the Race to Dubai rankings.
